St. John Baptist de La Salle

 Philosophy

Since its beginnings, the aims of De La Salle have been to educate youth in a truly Christian atmosphere and to develop a sense of proper moral and religious values through academic courses, athletic programs, extra curricular activities, liturgical functions and social events. It is believed that such principles will produce Christian youth who will contribute productively to the school now, and transfer these values to the community at large in the future.

 Curriculum

As a university preparatory school, De La Salle College provides an advanced curriculum which presents a comprehensive view of the various branches of knowledge and a view of their interrelations. The faculty strives to accentuate research and creativity to assist students in developing the powers of observation, imagination, reasoning, tolerance and judgement necessary for growth towards freedom and responsibility.

 Community

As a Catholic educational community, De La Salle College provides the time, setting, models, experiences, and reinforcements needed to help the student develop positive attitudes and perform positive deeds. Outside the home, De La Salle College provides its students with the best opportunity to experience living in a Christian community wherein all members will be devoted to persons through service to their families, Church, country and other people.

 Service

In keeping with the spirit of St. John Baptist de La Salle and in keeping with the school's philosophy, each student will be involved in community service programs. This service component will make up an essential element in every student's program of study. Similarly, students are expected to participate in all liturgical events planned for the scholastic year.

 School

Lasallian schools are Catholic educational communities inspired by the vision of St. John Baptist de La Salle, providing a human and Christian education to the young, in solidarity with the living tradition of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools .

In keeping with the tradition begun by St. John Baptist de La Salle, De La Salle College "Oaklands" reaffirms the vision of Catholic education wherein dedicated teachers, together and in association with young men and women, may experience the opportunity to grow intellectually, spiritually, artistically, and physically.

The independent Catholic school, together with the world-wide Lasallian community, is committed to fostering Christian virtues and principles inspired by the mission of the Brothers of the Christian Schools and their lay associates.
