 General

Thank you for your interest in De La Salle College. Choosing a school for your child can be a daunting task and we would like to make the process as simple as possible. This page will provide you with all the necessary information related to the application process.

De La Salle College strives for a diverse student population and hopes to attract young men and women with excellent academic skills; interest in a variety of co-curricular experiences; and the potential to contribute to the school community with a positive attitude. Entrance to De La Salle is competitive and an early application is recommended. The following information relates to the total numbers of spaces available for the 2012-2013 academic year:

  • 25 students will be admitted in grade 5
  • 20 students will be admitted in grade 6
  • 20 students will be admitted in grade 7
  • 60 students will be admitted in grade 9

Should you wish your child to apply for a non-entry year (grades 8, 10-12), the College will accept applications prior to the December 16, 2011 deadline however, De La Salle will not interview any candidates for non-entry levels until after March 1, 2011 and only if space becomes available.

 The Admissions Process

Admission to De La Salle College is based on:

  • A personal interview
  • An assessment of all required application documentation (see Instructions Link above) such as the student’s school records, teachers’ comments and the SSAT (Secondary School Admissions Test - www.ssat.org/ontario) for grades 7 and 9 and an in-house test for grade 5 and 6 students.
  • Previous co-curricular experience

*Please Note: Due to changes to the reporting cycles mandated by the Ministry of Education, De La Salle College will accept a FINAL REPORT from June 2011 and the recently released anecdotal reports. The College may use its discretion and ask for the February 2012 Report Card in order to complete the application file.

The admissions process begins in the fall with our Open House. Once the required application material has been submitted to the College, the De La Salle Admissions Office will contact the family to arrange an interview.

Once all applicants have completed the Admissions process, De La Salle College will be able to determine which students are best-suited and best prepared to join the school. Admissions decision letters will be mailed to parents by February 24, 2012.

 Open House & School Tours

Students and parents are invited to our annual Open House on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. De La Salle College also offers tours of the school facilities throughout the months of November through February.
