 Application Instructions


Thank you for your interest in De La Salle College “Oaklands”. The procedure for enrolling your daughter/son in our school is as follows:

 Step One
 
  • Complete both pages of the application form.
  • Enclose copies of your child's last three report cards (including comments). If the student is applying for grades 10, 11 or 12 please enclose a copy of his/her latest transcript of marks.

  • An application fee of $100.00 (non-refundable) must accompany each application. Please make cheque payable to De La Salle College.

  • Enclose two writing samples that have been submitted and marked at your daughter's/son's current school. (Photocopies preferred as original copies will not be returned.) Writing samples may consist of poetry, short story, project, essay or book report.

  • Enclose a photocopy of your child's most recent standardized test results (i.e. CAT, CCAT, EQAO, etc.)

  • Please have your child's teacher or principal complete the student profile form and have them return it directly to our Admissions Office.

  • Please submit a letter of reference from your parish priest, or your child's teacher or school principal

 
 Step Two


Only students applying for Grade Five, Grade Six,  Grade Seven, and Grade Nine must write an entrance exam. Students applying to Grades 8, 10, 11 or 12 (non-entry years) do not write an entrance exam.

Grades Five and Six
The entrance exam for the grades five and six  programes will be held in early February.   Please contact the Office of Admissions at 416-969-8771 ext. 228 for more information.

Grades Seven and Nine
Students entering into grades seven and nine must write the SSAT (Secondary School Admissions Test).  Please visit the SSAT website at www.ssat.org/ontario for test dates and registration. It is recommended that students write the SSAT by mid January to be considered for the upcoming academic year.

 Step Three


After the above information has been received, the Admissions Office may contact you to arrange a convenient time for you and your child to attend an interview. Interviews are scheduled Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and on three Saturdays in January and February.  Please contact the office of admissions at 416-969-8771 ext. 228 for more information regarding Saturday interviews.

 Step Four


Once all the requirements for admission at De La Salle College have been met, the successful candidates will be invited to register for the upcoming academic year.

 Dates to Remember

 

  • All application material must be received by De La Salle College no later than the second Friday in December.
  • Decisions regarding admissions are communicated to parents by mail and will not be given by telephone. All letters will be mailed by early March.
